Biology Experimentation Skills – Class 12 Federal Board (FBISE) – 2025
Overview
The Biology Experimentation Skills – Grade 12 book, published by the National Book Foundation (NBF) under the Federal Textbook Board (FBISE), is a supplementary resource designed according to the 2022–23 National Curriculum of Pakistan. It aims to develop students' scientific thinking through real-life biological experiments and data analysis. The book promotes problem-solving skills and inquiry-based learning, making it ideal for students preparing for assessment-based biology practicals and model papers.
This 2025 test edition includes refined illustrations, hands-on experimental tasks, and SLO-aligned (Student Learning Outcomes) content for improved understanding and practice.
List of Experiments:
- Experiment 1: To investigate how much a bacterial pathogen shows sensitivity or resistance to a particular antibiotic by Disc Diffusion Method (Kirby-Bauer test)
- Experiment 2: Applying the Chl-Squared (X4) Test to analyze the observed and expected genetic ratios in the correction F2 generation of a dihybrid cross involving inheritance of seed shape and seed color in pea plants.
- Experiment 3: Application of Pearson's Linear Correlation Test to analyze a linear relationship between the occurrence of two species (A and B) in a grassland.
- Experiment 4: Study of factors affecting the rate of enzyme activity or rate of reaction. (a) Effect of temperature (b) Effect of pH levels (c) Effect of enzyme concentration
- Experiment 5: Preparation of Weight/Volume Solutions (% or Molar Solutions) and Making Simple and Serial Dilutions from Stock Solution
- Experiment 6: Analysis of Use and Misuse of Specific Antibiotic through Provided Data.
- Experiment 7: Measuring variability in leaf surface area by graph paper method using different plant species.
- Experiment 8: Identification of ABO and Rh Blood Groups Using Antisera.
- Experiment 9: Determination of Child's Blood Group from Parental Blood Types (Phenotypes or Genotypes) and Vice Versa.
- Experiment 10: Determination of human height or weight variability among students of same age group (for example HSSC students.)
- Experiment 11: Investigating the Effect of the Amount of Fertilizer on Plant Growth (Height and Number of Leaves). OR Comparing the increase in plant height and number of leaves in different soil types (having different concentrations of minerals e.g., N, P, K)
- Experiment 12: Investigating the Effect of Light Intensity on Plant Growth (Height and Number of Leaves)
- Experiment 13: Investigating the Effect of Different Amounts of Water in Soil on Plant Growth (Height and Number of Leaves).
- Experiment 14: Investigating the Effect of Light Intensity on the Rate of Photosynthesis
